Students Take Honors at West Liberty Science Fair |

The 52nd Annual West Liberty Regional Science & Engineering Fair was held March 18-19and several BDHS students were honored for their work. The competition among grade 6-12 school students to demonstrate quality scientific investigation through exhibits. Its purpose is to encourage young people to develop an active interest in science and engineering and recognize quality scientific investigation in middle and high schools. Students from Jefferson and Belmont in Ohio; Hancock, Brooke, Ohio, Marshall, Tyler, and Wetzel in West Virginia were eligible to compete. Students competed for category awards, special awards, and an opportunity to go to the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, a Program of the Society for Science & the Public in Los Angeles, California May 8-13, 2011.

| Catherine Breault won 1st place in the Engineering competiton and a $100 prize. Cat also was named Genius Olympiad and won an all expenses paid trip to New York City for the national competition. In addition she won the Regional Stockholm Water Prize and the Yale Science and Engineering Award. |

John Mark Helfer won 1st place in the Physics category and a $100 prize. John Mark also won home the U.S. Navy Award, the Robert W. Schramm award for excellence in Physics and $200 and the WLU Robert W. Schramm Alumni award for $50. |
| Katie Scott tied for 1st place in the Enviornmental Science division and $100. Katie also won the U.S. Navy Award. |

Tyler Zahnow won 3rd place in the Environmental Science division. Tyler also won the I-SEEP award and a chance to win a all expenses paid trip to Houston for the national competition. |
| Bri received Honorable Mention in the Behavioral & Social Science category. |

Morgan Carroll took 3rd place in the Chemistry division and won the WLU Chemistry Club award worth $50. |
| Alexis Randloph won 3rd place in the Behavioral & Social Science division. |

Megan Rush was awarded 3rd place in Microbiology. |
| Emily Guthoerl was awarded 3rd place in the Medicine and Health field. |

Ashley Durdines received Honorable Mention in Medicine and Health. |
