Complementing the curriculum in physical education, health and safety is a well-developed program providing for participation and competition in interscholastic sports. The program of interscholastic athletics includes football, boys and girls basketball, wrestling, track and field, golf, cross country, baseball, softball, cheerleading, and volleyball.

Bishop Donahue is a member of the West Virginia Secondary Schools Activity Commission (SSAC) and eligibility to participate in athletics or extracurricular activities is determined by the rules and decisions of the SSAC. A 2.0 (C) grade point average must be maintained each semester for eligibility.

All B.D.H.S. athletes must have an annual physical examination and participate in the Drug Testing program. Failure to meet either requirement will result in the student being ruled ineligible to participate.
